Poseidon was the Greek god of the sea and rivers, creator of storms and floods, and the harbinger of earthquakes and destruction. He was perhaps the most disruptive of all the ancient gods. My son studied him last year and thought this piece looked like Poseidon's underwater kingdom. Disruption is not always a negative force though. Poseidon serves as a great metaphor for remembering to stir things up and that with eruption comes new life and possibilities.
